30DC Preseason Lesson 23 – Setting Expectations

box-expectations

For those of us who have never done a 30 Day Challenge before there may be some questions in our minds about what to expect.

All of us enter something new with some pre-conceived ideas and notions – some of them helpful and others not so helpful.

For some the thought of starting an online business can be scary and frought with unspoken fears. For others the excited associated with the possibilities of untold riches may create unrealistic expectations.

In this lesson Ed covers what are we trying to do here and what are we trying to achieve by doing the 30 Day Challenge…

30DC Preseason Lesson 22: Mindset

box-mindset

In previous years Mindset has been touched on during the Thirty Day Challenge and is now recognized as a significant part of being successful in the 30 day challenge.

Mindset  refers to a set of assumptions, methods or notations held by an individual which is so established that it creates a powerful incentive  to continue to adopt or accept prior behaviours, choices, or tools.

Our mindset can either help or hinder us in our efforts to be successful. Awareness of our mindset and a commitment to change it to our best advantage is a very p0werful strategy to ensure we achieve the optimum results.

This year a course of videos covering changing mindset and self-development is to be integrated into the Thirty Day Challenge, and we are lucky enough to have Karl Moore (Durham, UK) on board to deliver the videos for us.

Karl has wide ranging and extensive experience in the field of self-development, changing your mindset, and runs a successful multi-million dollar businesses online in that field. This video is to introduce us to Karl, who will periodically show up during the 30 Day Challenge training to help with changing our mindset to succeed.

30DC Preseason Lesson 21: Market Samurai

box-marketsamuraiMarket Samurai was introduced to the Thirty Day Challenge last year in 2008.

Actually Market Samurai was introduced to the World through the 30 Day Challenge.

Not only did it change the way we did market research for the 30DC but it became a game changer for the entire Internet Marketing Community.

Thanks to Market Samurai we no longer have to spend hours, perhaps days doing market and keyword research… going to site after site, writing down  data, comparing data, checking competitors and repeating the entire process for each and every keyword phrase – Now it can be done with a push of  button and the data comes to us.

Not only that, but the guys from Noble Samurai are continually updating and improving Market Samurai so it gets better and better.

This year the Market Samurai lessons are given by the guys from Noble Samurai – the creators of market Samurai.

30DC Preseason Lesson 20 – Jing

box-jingA picture paints a thousand words so sharing information with readers, your team or getting feedback on your research by using a photo or screenshot of something on your computer screen is a great way to get that info quickly copied and shared.

The Thirty Day Challenge recommends using Jing as your screen capture software. I personally use Snagit and you will see evidence of this in the screenshots on some of my posts. I even created the KA-KO logo using the Snagit Editor.

However for the rest of the 30 Day Challenge I will use Jing so I get familiar with software.

In this lesson Nez shows us how to install Jing on our computer, and how to take screenshot photos and videos that we can share with our team mates, as well as with the other 30DCers on the 30DC Forum.

30DC Preseason Lesson 19: The 30DC Facebook Application

box-facebook30dcappFacebook became extraordinary in Jan 2009. Joe and Jane Bloggs now use Facebook as part of everyday life – some 250 million login each month – real people that like to keep track of  other real people:  >family >friends >workmates >favorite music groups >politicians > etc

The 30 Day Challenge Facebook Application is a world first for Internet Marketing, anywhere… An entire course within an application on Facebook. This is a huge experiment for 30DC & Internet Marketing in general.

Look at the viral effect of just a couple mentions: over 1300 people added the 30Dc Facebook app* before it’s official launch on “The Thirty Day Challenge TV Show”, Tuesday July 21st.

*Read my Pre-Launch post “30 Day Challenge now on Facebook” dated July 6th.

Ed’s Theory on Facebook:

People are spending more & more time in Facebook – it’s almost becoming an operating system for the Internet. People are sick of all the spam, pop-ups and viruses they get and Facebook provides a safe permission based environment in which to experience the web. There are so many applications & games that the average internet user loves the Facebook Experience.

Internet Marketing on Facebook:

As Internet Marketers we need to bring our skill and our stuff to the Facebook Environment. A Mistake many marketers make is trying to bump the Facebook user out of the environment and onto their pages. If you are going to service people and niche markets on Facebook you need to be in Facebook where the people are.

30DC Preseason Lesson 18: Google Reader

box-googlereaderThe RSS Reader Technique was a Game Changer to the Thirty Day Challenge when Ed introduced it two years ago. He called it…  “RSS- The Secret of My Success!”

Initially we had used Bloglines as the RSS Reader of choice however with the integration of all the Google tools now available and Googles’ continued development of Google Reader, I have to agree with Ed on this one… it is by far my favorite way to stay in touch with what is going on in the world, Blogosphere, chosen niches, and personal interests.

Using RSS and Google Reader how Ed prescribes will not only save you hours of research drudgery but change your life and how you view the world.

30DC Preseason Lesson 17: Meetups

box-meetupsFace to Face Meetups in your local area with fellow Thirty Day Challenge participants is a great way to build camaraderie and 30Dc community spirit. They don’t necessarily have to be with your 30 Day Challenge team mates.

Although some teams are formed with local team mates in mind, quite often teams will have members from all over the country or even the world. Last year for example I met with Greg for coffee at the Christchurch Arts Centre for coffee (an ex-pat Kiwi Challenger living in Japan) who just happened to be visiting home around 30Dc time.

If you are in one of these international teams a local meetup with other 30DCers in your home town goes a long way to helping you not feel isolated.

Pete Wiiliams shows us how to search for and organise a local meetup in your home town
