#tc10 Module 7 – Day 1: Making A Decision About Your Micro-Niche

Module Seven: Your Go/No Go Decision
Lesson 1: Making A Decision About Your Micro-Niche
Presenter: Caro McCoutie – challenge.co
Video Length: 11:33mins total

We have spent considerable time so far (some 16 weeks since the Challenge began) to get here to the Go/No Go decision part of the niche market testing process.

Typically we humans make decisions based on emotion and gut feelings and not on fact.

When it comes to making a decision about the niche market we have been researching and testing it must be based on the “numbers” and our feelings set aside.

Removing emotion from the decision process makes it easier to move on… Either the numbers stack up and we make a move to develop our niche presence further or the numbers tell us “there is nothing to see here” and we can move on to our next niche to research and test.

When based on on certain criteria the decision can be quick and painless… the hard part is when you feel an emotional investment in your research project.

You have invested time: researching the topic, setting up a blog, writing content etc
You have invested money: getting hosting, a domain name, and perhaps upgrading your membership to the various resources such as Market Samurai, WordPress direst and Traffic Bug.
You have invested creative energy: Doing the lessons, crafting a site, researching and writing content.

The good news is that regardless of the results we have many options to be moving forward with…

Presenter: Ed Dale – challenge.co
Video Length: 2:30mins total

This is Just a Test – This is Just a Test – This is Just A Test

I know I have mentioned it before but today Ed reminds us again that The Challenge is all about Niche Market “Testing”

No one is expected to become instant internet millionaires and the chances are likely that the first niche (or even the second, third or fourh) will be a bust.

What is important here is that you have been taught a way to seek and find that profitable niche that could change your life forever. And gain some skills along the way to help you with that.

As we are still in ‘testing’ mode for our niche we don’t want to spend too much time and effort on testing products to sell from our niche website. For this reason we are using affiliate products to see if our “audience” or ‘market visitors’ are willing to part with their cash to solve their problems.

Writing an affiliate ad when you are new to it can be time consuming and a struggle. Not everyone is a natural born copy writer or has ad writing experience.

There are a couple approaches you can use
1. copy and paste ads the product owner has supplied for their affiliates
2. review the product and write one from scratch

The first approach is quick and easy however your ad will be just like everyone elses and over time people become “ad blind” when over exposed to the same ad. The second approach requires more time and effort but you end up with a unique ad that may or may not be effective.

The Monetization modelue within Market Samurai allows you to leverage both approaches to create an ad quickly and effortlessly.

Another way to test whether your chosen niche is a viable market to invest more time and money in is to search for products within the niche. If there are products being sold within the niche, it’s a good bet that the niche market is buying said products.

At this stage of our investigation we don’t want to create a product but we can test the market by offering affiliate products to see whether our audience is willing to buy from us or not. By doing this we don’t waste time, money or effort creating a product that perhaps no-one is going to buy.

The Monetisation Module within Market Samurai can help us quickly research what affiliate products are available related to our niche using for major affiliate networks: Amazon, ClickBank, Commission Junction and PayDotCom

#tc10 Module 6 – Day 3: Monitoring Google Adsense Performance On Your WPD Micro-Niche Blog

Module Six: Monetization
Lesson 3: Monitoring Google Adsense Performance On Your WPD Micro-Niche Blog
Presenter: Emily – WordPress Direct
Video Length: 7:20 mins total

The important thing to remember about installing adsenese on your blog…

THIS IS A TEST!

We are using Adsense to gain data on which to make a decision… GO/NO GO

  • GO = lots of clicks on your Adsense Ads = buying market looking for products>
  • NO GO = little or no clicks = non buying market looking for free info.

In days gone by we used to use Google Adwords to perform this test. However Adsense requires no money up front so it is a free way to test the commerciality of your chosen niche market. It will take a few days to get enough data to determine this depending on your traffic.

#tc10 Module 6 – Day 2: Adding Google Adsense To Your WPD Micro-Niche Blog

Module Six: Monetization
Lesson 2: Adding Google Adsense To Your WPD Micro-Niche Blog
Presenter: Marty Rozmanith – WordPress Direct
Video Length: 8:33 mins total

The WordPress Direct Dashboard interface makes it easy to add Google Adsense Ads to your Blog. Basically all you need to do is add your Adsense Publisher ID to your website settings, select the type of ad, position and colour scheme and it is automatically installed using the WPD Ads Manager Plugin.

The beauty with this system is that newbies don’t need to learn html or php code to insert ads so is ideal for all you techno-phobes or newbies unfamiliar with the behind the scenes workings of WordPress. Personally I prefer to learn and understand the under the hood workings of website management but now it’s not essential to do that using WPD.
